    bicarbonate of soda

    oats

    soft brown sugar

    ml
    margarine, melted
  • 1
    extra-large egg, beaten
  • 180
    ml
    buttermilk
 

Method

 
Preheat the oven to 200 ºC (400 ºF). Grease a 12-hollow muffin tin. Sift the dry ingredients together. Add the oats and brown sugar, mixing well. Beat the margarine, egg and buttermilk together. Add to the dry ingredients, stirring until just mixed. Fill each hollow three-quarters full of the mixture and bake for 20-25 minutes or until the muffins are baked through. Makes about 12 muffins.
