Why you should consider eating your next meal from a bowl

Bowl food is the new black.

If you're on Instagram you'll know that bowl food has recently been flooding news feeds near and far. When I last checked, #smoothiebowls kicked out over 650K posts, with #breakfastbowl scoring over 139K posts and #bowlfood reaching almost 10K. What!

Bowl food is also said to continue trending in 2017. Smoothie bowls definitely stole the spotlight this year, most likely because of all the pretty designs that took over our Instagram feeds, so we're excited to see in which other creative ways people will revolutionise the bowl food movement next year.

With all the food fads that have come and gone in the last few years, the bowl craze is certainly one worth embracing. Yes, in some cases it is just a matter of eating your meals from a bowl rather than off a plate, but The Telegraph says that bowl food has a character of its own - it is usually healthy, balanced and comforting to eat. Nigella Lawson, dedicated a whole chapter of her book, Simply Nigella, to bowl food. She wrote, "For me, 'bowlfood' is simply shorthand for food that is simultaneously soothing, bolstering, undemanding and sustaining." Who would argue with that?

The status quo with bowl food is that it has to be (mostly) healthy, nourishing and for bonus points, beautiful!
