September Vinatics with KWV Wines

All you need to know about this month's Vinatics.

by: Cathy Marston | 31 Aug 2011

Welcome to our September Vinatics with our favourite sponsors, KWV Wines – check out their editorial to see details of their great competition. We’ve gone tapas-crazy the last few months so it seemed a good idea to pair a few of the deliciously affordable Classic Collection wines with some of our favourite tapas dishes for an evening of fun, relaxed and enjoyable entertainment. Here are the 6 wines we’re going to be tasting this month:

The Wines

KWV Classic Collection Sauvignon Blanc 2011
KWV Classic Collection Chenin Blanc 2011
KWV Classic Collection Chardonnay 2010
KWV Classic Collection Shiraz 2009
KWV Classic Collection Pinotage 2010
KWV Classic Collection Cabernet Sauvignon 2009

Click here for all the tasting notes. All these wines are available from leading retailers such as Pick n Pay, Checkers or Ultra Liquors and range in price from R34.95 to R54.95 – outstanding value for money.

The Food
Chef Caro has searched through her database for some classic (and some not so classic) dishes which she thinks will go well with the wines. Here are her ideas:

Roasted Aubergine and Feta Fritters
Stuffed Calamari with Basil and Peppers
Spicy Lamb Meatballs
Patatas Bravas
Garlic Chicken Kebabs
Sirloin Steak Strips with Bearnaise Dip.

What makes her think these combinations are going to work? Check out the chefs notes here.

The Dinner Party – 14th September

We’re very excited about some of our top bloggers who will be joining us for this month’s dinner – Jan Tripepi who’s coming all the way from Durban, Miss Fab Photographer herself, Sam Linsell aka Drizzle and Dip and Carey Boucher-Erasmus from Bits of Carey. They’ll be joined by the usual motley crew from Food24 – Cath, Cathy, Caro, Meagan and Sam – so follow all the fun and games on Twitter.

We really really want to give one of you a fabulous case of these delicious wines for you to enjoy this Spring – and it’s so easy to win it!
