WATCH: SA conceptual food artist shines at Venice Food Design Week

Former Food24 editor and food design entrepreneur, Caro de Waal, was the only South African invited to showcase her work at the 2018 Venice Food Design Week.

The Venice Food Design Week that takes place from 1 - 7 February 2018, is a project that provides a platform for all designers and creators related to food and dining. 

The theme for this year's event is VANITAS -  which explores abundance, vanity, and the self- destructive nature of the contemporary food industry. 

South African food design artist and former Food24 Editor, Caro de Waal, is the only South African that was invited to exhibit her work in Venice this year.

"My immersive food performance art piece called TEMPEST uses film, sound, aromas, rain, honey, earth, and fire," says Caro. "It has been a wonderful experience to come together with food artists and designers from all over the world. Food art and design is becoming a reality."
