Weekend menu 17

This weekend menu is dedicated to the beginning of Spring, in the hope that we will chase winter away.

This weekend looks likes it's going to be a sunny one for the bottom of Africa! All our provinces have temperatures in the 20s, so it's time to put away the umbrellas, take off your beanies and earmuffs, shake off your winter blues and say hello to the new buds of spring.

Something simple and light is always a good choice for a relaxing Friday night. Crack open a bottle of chilled Sauvignon Blanc and sip whilst enjoying this zesty seared Moroccan-spiced tuna fillet with charred limes, paired with a crispy salad.

Whip up a hollandaise sauce and toast those English muffins; a traditional eggs Benedict is on the menu for this sunny Saturday morning.

Invite your friends over to watch the rugby and support our boys with boerewors rolls and Castle beer in hand. Slather your wors rolls with a spicy tomato and chilli relish, your taste-buds will be roaring with the crowd.

Throw a couple of lentil burgers on the grill for a healthy, less spicy option.

Today is a picnic day, so gather your family and friends and pack your boot with a tempting lunch-basket crammed with snacks and treats.

Open the chip packet and snack on tasty dips such as these, bean and garlic dip, aubergine dip and spiced butternut and cumin dip.

Every picnic has to have the customary egg sandwich, mix up the meal with cold beef and salad wraps and a couscous salad with smoked chicken and rocket.

And for dessert bring out this bright and scrumptious cheesecake.

Relax under the sun and tan with a good book and lots of suntan cream, a the perfect end to a Spring weekend.
