Another mini holiday has arrived and Food24 has created a weekend menu to share with friends and family. So put away the cookbooks and stop stressing about what to feed all those hungry mouths.

After a long week curl up around the fire with a big bowl of broccoli soup with smoked mozzarella toast and a good glass of wine.

Start your day off with a healthy bowl of homemade toasted muesli and yoghurt.

Enjoy a late lunch around the braai with family and friends.

For the main dish grill a butterflied chicken over the coals.

Serve this with a tasty aubergine salad and an easy skewered bread.

All this cold weather makes it the perfect time for a traditional Sunday roast with the family. For the main course serve roast lamb ribs paired with oven-roasted vegetables and fruit and nut stuffed onions.

For dessert make the kids happy with a rich and comforting malva pudding.

Sleep in this Freedom Day and make yourself the ultimate breakfast toastie that you can enjoy in front of the TV, with a good book or in bed. Today, freedom of choice is your theme song.

End off the long weekend with a simple and tasty calamari and chilli stir-fry.
