The world-famous cronut, a croissant-doughnut mashup that was invented and trademarked last year by Chef Dominique Ansel in New York City, is now available to everyone! We couldn't quite believe it ourselves but Dominique Ansel has maded it possible for us ALL to enjoy his original creation (which took 4 months to perfect).
We wrote about the rise of the cronut last year - when it went viral and was taking over the American pastry world. Since then the innovative chef has created the 'Chocolate Chip Cookie Milk Shots' and the 'Ice Cream Sundae in a Can'. We wonder what's next for this burgeoning sweet treat designer!
In South Africa, we have our own croissant-doughnut mashup maker - in the form of Jason Lilley aka Captain Bread from Jason Bakery. His creation is named, the 'doughssant' - with different flavours available every week.
