With the month of Ramadaan drawing to a close and the siting of the new moon on Saturday, we want to share our excitement for Eid on Sunday.
We’ve put together a lunch menu from an amazing book by Nazeeha Abrahams ‘More than Samoosas’.
WIN WIN WIN!
Send us your favourite Eid memory, and you could WIN a copy. We have 2 in English and 2 in Afrikaans to give away so don’t forget to say which one you want!
Nazeeha Abrahams’ culinary journey started when, as a newly-wed, she was feeling lost in her own kitchen. Her mother was called in to guide her. With new found confidence she explored her Cape Malay heritage, blending it with the exotic aromas from Durbans spice market – to the great delight of her family.
Start with some Dhaltjies (chilli bites) to get the juices flowing and then dive into a long and wonderful family lunch.
Eid oven roasted chicken is wonderfully spicy and tender.
Tear up some delicious fresh roti to eat with the mutton akhni and crayfish curry and add some wonderful colour with the green bean bajie and a creamy cauliflower and broccoli bake.
Dessert is a beautiful and impressive trifle and you can’t possible go without a homemade milk tart.
