It’s Christmas at Checkers  You’d be glad to know that they’ve done all the hard work for you when it comes to finding great, award-winning wines even better prices. This festive season you will look like a wine connoisseur, simply because you visited your nearest Checkers Wine Route.

Thanks to Odd Bins, Checkers now stocks two Sauvignon Blancs that have all the wine experts talking. These two 2013 Sauvignon Blanc Odd Bins wines are exclusive to Checkers and recently took top honours at the 2013 Michelangelo International Wine Awards.

Sourced from amongst the best-performing vineyards in Durbanville, and made by one of the region's leading producers, Bin 239 and Bin 242 each won Grand D' Or awards. This is the highest accolade given by the international judging panel.

The Sauvignon Blanc division was the competition's most popular category and attracted 173 entries. Very few wines achieved Grand D' Or scores, proving just how high the judges rated these two wines.

The two wines are quite different in style from each other but it’s these unique characteristics that make them winners in their own right. Bin 239 has a tropical profile that ends in a crisp finish, while Bin 242 has more gooseberry and lime characters and a fuller, weightier palate.

Both wines are currently available in all stores while stocks last and can also be ordered online by the case here. Also be sure not to miss the Checkers Christmas Wine Promotion with over 150 wines on promotion, including many other award winners & view the online wine catalogue here.

This is not the first award for Odd Bins. Last year Bin 230, also a Sauvignon Blanc, won gold at the same show.

Odd Bins wines are limited-edition, once-off bottlings. They are sourced from some of the country's foremost producers, who agree to sell to Checkers at very competitive prices, provided their identities remain a secret. It’s this agreement that allows wine enthusiasts to enjoy highly rated South African wines at extremely favourable prices.

So if you’re looking for great wines this festive season, visit your nearest Checkers Wine Route and be dazzled by all the award-winning favourites.
