Some countries mark the occasion with Mardi Gras and beaming costumes, while others take to the kitchen — Shrove Tuesday (aka Pancake Day) is a day of celebration. Typically the Tuesday in February or March that immediately precedes Ash Wednesday (the first day of Lent), Shrove Tuesday is the last day you can gorge on your favourite things before Lenten fast begins.
