Why you really should like us on Facebook

Yesterday I went to an incredible lunch at the Pepperclub on the Beach
in Camps Bay – and it occurred to me that it is rather sad that locals
regard Camps Bay as only a tourist trap. Granted there have been some
awful restaurants to blot the landscape there in recent years – but
there are also some very cool places there now with chefs who are trying
really hard to produce good food. And it’s on the beach people.

It’s time to take Camps Bay back, but that is a whole other story.

As I was studiously ignoring my fellow diners and posting gorgeous pictures of my food to our Facebook page and Twitter
stream, it also occurred to me that our social media pages really
should be go-to places for people out there who have ANY interest in
food whatsoever.

The Food24 team goes to any new, cool, amazing, funky, up-market, gourmet, hipster, bistro, market, hole-in-the-wall, takeaway, urban picnic, fish n chips, pop-up
joint  you can imagine. And while we are there (much to the annoyance
of other guests and delight of the PR) we constantly post pictures and
useful info on Facebook and Twitter. It’s a live feed to everything
awesome in the food world.

Not just Cape Town!

And I
know you are thinking, “ja… for Capetonians”… (and you have a point)
but we are seriously working on that! We have got resident foodies in Gauteng and Durban
(we’re working on PE and Garden Route) and we get them to tweet on our
behalf when they are onto something new and hot. And we’ll be posting
their pictures and opinions on our Facebook page. We feature new
restaurants nearly every day on our Facebook and invite our followers to
comment on them.

@food24
follows as many restaurants and chefs as we can on twitter and we
ReTweet them constantly when they talk about events, menus, specials
etc. So if you have a friend who works at a restaurant then tell them
about us.

We’re not trying to sell anything or tell you that
Food24 will make you look 10 years younger – just a simple know-how when
you want to go out and try something new. So, it’s easy – just follow
us on @food24 or LIKE our Facebook page. We’re full of latest news and fun. Shit, we even said shit the other day.
