Rugby World Cup specials

It’s just over a week to go till the 2015 Rugby World Cup kicks off in England and Wales. I don’t know about you, but I’m a massive rugby fan.  The double bonus this year is that the rugby matches all take place in prime time viewing. Almost all the group matches for the Boks are at around 6pm in the evening!  Did somebody say Jackpot?

If you need to know anything about the World Cup I suggest you download the official app. It’s awesome.

The next logical question then is where to watch the rugby? At home  is a great option and over the next few weeks we’ll be posting loads of great rugby watching recipes – crowd-pleasers such as these braai chilli poppers plus a guide for buying craft beer and even some red wine recommendations for your braai. Lekker.

But this World Cup also presents an opportunity to go out and have a bit of fun. You don’t even need to be a huge rugby fan to enjoy the festive atmosphere that any World Cup will bring to a restaurant or bar.

All over South Africa restaurants and bars are putting up extra screens, running fantastic specials and promotions, and I guarantee placing extra beer orders with suppliers.

Food24 is looking for those specials!

So, if you are a restaurant or bar owner – or you know someone who manages or owns a bar then pass on this message: Email us on editor@food24.com and we will be loading specials to our Rugby World Cup Specials Hub and promoting it across all our considerable social media platforms. Beer & Burger specials, 2-4-1 specials, or whatever you are thinking of putting on, we want to know about it.

You can also tweet us on @food24 or tag us on Instagram (@food24_sa) and we will RT and spread the word.

In Cape Town I’ll be heading to Forries, The Taproom at Devils’ Peak, Jamaica me CrazyVan Hunks, Firemans Arms, Jerry’s Burger Bar, Odyssey, Carlyles, Jakes in the Village, The Village Idiot, Tiger’s Milk, Tiger’s Milk Muizenberg, The Beerhouse on Long, Gastao’s, Perseverance Tavern, Dias Tavern, Vasco’s, Slug and Lettuce, Shimmy Beach Club, Peddlars & Co. – to name but a few.

Joburg, Durban, PE and the rest of SA – please send us your World Cup Specials and we will shout them from the rooftops!

You can also Tweet or email us where you will be watching and we will follow up and add the restaurant to our list.

It’s going to be 44 days of cheering on tries and tackles, so let’s get behind our team and have a bit of fun while we are doing it. Also please remember to drink responsibly and use safe transport modes like GoodFellas, 1fortheRoad and UBER to get you around.

Cheers!
