Easter food

Can you believe it’s Easter already?

I’m ready for a nice big fat break. I feel a little like
day-old bread… dry around the edges. What I need is a good roasting and a
serious shiny glaze. Yes, that’ll brighten me up and then I can settle down to some
dedicated chocolate feasting.

Easter is a fun holiday, not being too religious myself I
see it as a family get-together with loads of braais, beach and lots of wine.

Since my sproglets joined us in this world, afternoon naps
are a little lacking, but in comes buckets and spades and the chance to re-live
Easter though a childs’ eyes. It’s so very exciting, I love all the brightly
coloured wrappers and this year I got those glow-in-the-dark eggs and torches.
How fun?

Easter Sunday has always been a good feed with a traditional
huge ham and garlic spiked lamb with roasted ‘taties and veggies, a massive
pavlova to feed the hoards and choccies all around. A proper
un-button-your-pants meal.

The rest of the lovely long weekend we marinade all sorts of
chops and ribs and try new side dishes. It’s almost as if the braai never goes
out!

There’s always the yummy garlicky apricot snoek braai and if
we’re very lucky, someone snags a couple of crayfish to feast on oh-so
decadently with a simple garlic butter.

It’s a happy, tummy-filling time with easter egg smiles and
crazy family togetherness.

Relax into a wonderful, chocolate covered weekend.
