Your weekend feast: 4 August 2017

Welcome to the weekend (feast!) and the month of August!

Last month we celebrated chocolate month at Food24 and this month we’re excited to announce that we’ve declared it pasta month!

For now jump right in and see what you should be feasting on this weekend.

Fishcakes are a timeless classic and these Thai fishcakes are especially addictive! If you’re entertaining, serve it to your guests as something to nibble on.

Our editor, Tessa Purdon, recently had the privilege of interviewing Ishay Govender-Ympa, author of the newly launched Curry: Stories & Recipes Across South Africa. The book features over 60 South African curry recipes from local, everyday SA cooks, together with their stories. This  ridiculously comforting, warming chicken and prawn curry comes from the book and will look (and taste!) good on your weekend menu.

At Food24 we’ve declared the month of August pasta month and we’re celebrating with al dente pasta recipes, tips and tricks all month long! Add some colour and Italian-Korean fusion to your weekend with this beef and egg noodle stir-fry.

These fudgy chocolate and Marie Biscuit squares are uber easy to make and will have you overcome with feelings of pure nostalgia!

In the Winter vegetarian department, we’ve got a gorgeous roast butternut and lentil bobotie. While bobotie is traditionally made with pork or beef, this meat-free variation does not skimp on flavour and will give you all the flavours you’d expect from a traditional bobotie.

If you’re really in the mood for a samoosa but not so keen on the frying part, these easy baked mushroom and beef samosas are the ideal warming bites for your weekend.

The icy August weather calls for comforting, warm puddings and this caramel sponge pudding is exactly that.
