Weekend Feast: 26 April 2018

Yay! Finally, another long weekend for us to kick back and relax while enjoying some amazing food. This is the chance to bake as much as you’d like, not forgetting there’s also more time to create those tasty dishes and treats you’ve been dreaming about.

For a quick and delicious breakfast make a fresh batch of buttermilk waffles with honey roasted figs and goat’s cheese. Serve these beauties with some bacon and walnuts.

A delightful snack to have on hand are these delicious double chocolate oat cookies. Great with a freshly brewed cup of tea.

Feeling like something warm this Saturday? Make these baked lamb chops. Best with a fresh green side salad.

We love Winter because it means tasty warm stews and this flavoursome spicy seafood soup is just what is needed for this weather. Serve piping hot.

For our vegetarian readers, we’ve got you covered. This creamy linguine with roasted cauliflower dish is best served with some extra Parmesan cheese.

For a hearty dinner, this spicy potato and chipolata stew is the definition of comfort and warmth. Although it is filling enough on its own, it can also be served with basmati rice or couscous.

Weekend means snacking on all the goodies you wouldn’t usually have during the week. And these apple and cinnamon buns with salted caramel are a must-have this weekend! These will go down perfectly with a warm cup of coffee or tea and can even be served as an indulgent brunch.

If you are brave enough to braai this long weekend then recreate this sausage filled mielie roosterkoek with mustard sauce. These make a great addition to any braai as a side dish.
