Kelloggs chicken-flavoured instant noodles scored 3/5

In terms of flavour, tasters noted that they could have done with a stronger, saltier chicken flavour punch. The chicken flavour was more on the subtle side, but this is still a good instant noodle overall.

Woolworths chicken-and-herb flavoured instant noodles scored 2.5/5

The bright purple packaging stands out when compared to most other brands, which tend to favour yellow, red and green packaging. The noodle experience, however, did not stand out! Tasters felt they were the most let down by this one, saying that they were on the bland side (both taste-wise and visually) and lacked the flavour punch you’d expect from instant noodles.

MUST-TRY RECIPE: Asian-inspired beef ramen

Fantastic chicken-flavoured instant noodles scored 4/5

This sample, the costliest in the bunch, was the preferred instant noodle sample on the day, scoring the highest for the overall Food24 Taste Test rating. Tasters noted that the finished product had the most vibrant colour with a few visible peas and carrot pieces. The broth was satisfyingly rich and packed with flavour, which tasters really enjoyed! The only criticism was that they could have been saucier!

Maggi chicken-flavoured instant noodles scored 3.5/5

The instant noodle from your childhood – guaranteed! The flavour is so nostalgic that tasters could pick up on it even in a blind taste test. Coming in second place, tasters noted that these affordable noodles ticked the flavour box. They also had a good colour, which highlights just how much we eat with our eyes as well as our taste buds!

Mr Pasta chicken-flavoured instant noodles scored 2/5

Tasters thought that the overall flavour and appearance of these noodles were bland. They felt that the noodles didn’t deliver that salty good chicken flavour you’d expect! Ultimately this affected the overall enjoyment, along with the score.
