The Food24 team shares their 2023 kitchen goals

At Food24, we believe every room in your home should bring a sense of calm and order, including your kitchen. Kitchens are the heart of every home, a place where friends and family gather to create memories.

As we step into 2023, why not treat yourself to new kitchen appliances, upgrades and gadgets to make it feel new, and make your time spent in the kitchen as seamless as possible? We asked our Food24 team to share their 2023 kitchen goals. Here’s what they had to say:

Organisation is key

Managing editor Lauren Josephs says there’s nothing more frustrating than having to dig through the back of her spice cupboard to find the paprika. “I’d really love a spice rack organiser. No idea why I don’t have one!”

Food24’s social media manager, Ishani Chetty, says that one of her 2023 kitchen goals is to have a well-organised cupboard that will help her stay efficient and give her a good overview of all her cooking supplies. “Having all spices, dry goods and other supplies in glass jars with labels, organised according to preference of use.”

To bring a sense of order to her cupboards, content producer Bianca Jones also says that her goal is to find a way to get easy access to items at the back of the cupboard. “Some level of organisation would be nice in the cupboards, but admittedly I am the problem because I just chuck things back, close the door and hope for the best when they get opened again.”

A well-organised kitchen might just be the secret to happier cooking.

Create a new look

There’s just something about a beautiful and functional kitchen that inspires one to cook up a storm. A fresh coat of paint is how head of content Tessa Purdon plans on transforming her existing kitchen cabinets and breathing life into her kitchen. “My kitchen goal is to paint my kitchen cabinets a different colour (something timeless but fun!).” What a fun and cost-effective way to jazz things up!

Tessa also adds that she plans on putting up floating shelves in her kitchen to create a special place for her collection of ceramics to stand as art pieces. “I want to put up floating shelves to hold my growing collection of ceramics – most of them have been gifted to me by my talented friends and so I want to display them for all to see.”

Food storage containers

 Bianca is on a mission to reduce her plastic usage, one glass container at a time. “I’d love glass containers instead of plastic ones.”

Glass food storage containers are eco-friendly, the easiest to wash, and you can see what’s inside and how much is left. Seriously, what’s not to like?

Gadgets and appliances

 Ishani would love a garlic mincer to help her speed up prep time for when she has a lot of garlic to crush all at once. “A garlic mincer (yes I know I can just go get one but I always forget).”

Our two coffee lovers, Lauren and Ishani, would love to own Nespresso machines – the perfect addition to any coffee lover’s kitchen.

For Bianca, there are three appliances that would make her dream kitchen complete. “A Lacanche oven, a Kenwood stand mixer (with ALL the attachments) and an ice cream machine (one that chills and churns at the same time).”

Storage is key

Tessa shares that adding hooks is a great way of expanding her kitchen storage space.

“I’d like to level up the storage a bit by adding some hanging hooks for frying pans and colanders too.”
