It could be the vuvuzelas that I hear all day and night in lively
bursts around the neighbourhood. Or the stupendously cool World Cup that
has got us all drunk on SA pride that has me in this dance-on-my-tippytoes
mood.
I feel like warming my belly with great food and swilling it
down with jugs of South African beer (says the very preggie chick who can only
wish ). Getting friends and family together and watching a game has become part
of life itself in these last few balmy winter weeks.
It’s also a great way
to get into the kitchen and explore the food of the rainbow of nations who have
come cheering to our shores.
Oh, it’s all so exciting, what will happen next? It’s also been tear-soddenly sad with many a
countryman up in arms. We’ve had to say au
revoir to the wonders of France and all it has to offer. What
will I do without my French onion soup?
And Italy…
breathe… how could you? My mozzarella in carrozza were becoming a staple.
Poor Portugal – Ronaldo and team, we bid you a sad
farewell. I shall have to devour some prego
rolls to salute those lovely boys.
England… what can I say, except our restaurant ed.
Cath Shone is mortified that you played like you forgot to eat your marmalade that morning. Sad sad sad.
But no fear my bonnie foodies, there are still some gorgeous
