Best breakfast Cape Town

Breakfast means business here at Food24; and we don’t mess around with the business of eating.  Ok, we mess around a little.

Some of us love a nice healthy start to the day, some of us care less about our hearts and prefer some serious bacon and eggs (topped off with a little hollandaise sauce as well, go for the gold!)

Whatever your breakfast pleasure, we’ve got this killer list of all the best breakfast spots, in no particular order, in Cape Town and surrounds.

Best Breakfast Guide: Cape Town

Clarke’s Dining
Roll
out of bed, throw your pajamas on and head to Clarke’s this weekend; or
week depending on if you are “fun-employed.”  They serve up delicious
omelettes and some handy hang over eats, with a good vibe and awesome
service.

Tashas Constantia
A local spot, Tashas in Constantia is known for a satisfying breakfast.  Some people love the extensive menu; some are overwhelmed, but go and decide for yourself on your favourite dish.

Eat with Emma
Bean There” coffee – R10 before 10am, amazing carrot cake, breakfast wraps, healthy options… there are jsut some of the reviews for this newly opened spot on Loop Street.

Hemelhuijs
A flair for design accompanied by delicious coffee, sumptuous breakfasts and amazing pastries that are baked daily. Just have a look at this gallery.

Jonkershuis
Bring the whole family, the kids, the dogs, the birds, anyone you wish.  We recommend the eggs Benedict.

Skinny Legs and All
The #1 reason this place was chosen is for their muesli bowl.  It’s the best, ever, hands down.  With gorgeous cut fruit, crunchy crisp bites of bran covered in honey and sesame and the most generous portion of yoghurt.  It’s a little pricey but this fruit bowl is worth having the most refreshing and uplifting morning.

Bistro Sixteen82
Located in the Southern suburbs, Bistro Sixteen82 is fancy schmancy for breakfast.  If you know someone who is crazy for fine dining early in the morning, this is the place to take them for a special occasion.

Cafè Neo
Always jammed packed weekdays and weekends, this local Atlantic Seaboard joint sits along the seaside with beautiful views.  Their breakfast sandwich is decadent but for a healthier option asks for mushrooms instead of bacon.  And, their roasted vegetable with hummus is one of the best in Cape Town.

Tamboers Winkel
Get
here early because by 12 their homemade croissants are sold out.  But
have no fear, the chocolate ones are usually around and they tie in well
to any meaty or bacon dish.  And, their red velvet cupcake is so
enticing with its decadent creamy frosting and moist and thoughtful
icing to cake ratio, you just have to buy one.

Winchester Mansions
Treat yourself to a few hours of a fantastic breakfast buffet served in a gorgeous courtyard accompanied by top notch jazz tunes. You’ll stay on right through lunch!

The Hatch at Jason Bakery
Jason Bakery is open Saturday mornings serving up breakfasts with freshly baked artisan bread. This trendy spot is literally a hole in the wall off Bree street.

Olympia Cafe and Deli
An old favourite with the locals and this gem makes most of Cape Town’s croissants. Perfect for breakfast in Kalk Bay and then off to the beach.

Café Roux
A huge outdoor café in Noordhoek Farm village. Relaxed and lovely with a large play area for kids. The food is made with all fresh ingredients for a farm-style feeling and down-to-earth food, just like your mama made it.

Cafeen Harfield Village
A stunning little spot in the heart of Harfield with country chic décor that makes you want to settle in for a while. Sumptuous, delicious brekkies that won’t leave you hungry. It’s right next to a park so you can take the kiddies and the dogs for a run around.

Starlings Café
This is an oasis in the southern suburbs on Belvedere road. A renovated Victorian house with a charming garden has been transformed into a bustling food zone with great coffee, massive muffins, pastries and an array of wonderful breakfasts.

The Blend
During the week grab a coffee from one of the many suppliers The Blend proudly boasts.  Saturday morning features the R45 omelet te with at least 5 seasonal and fresh ingredients. In the middle of town in Roeland Street.

Cafè Paradiso
Whisk yourself away to paradise in Kloof Street.  Tree lined Café Paradiso does a great brunch buffet during the week, but their breakfast, served daily, is divine.  This is a place to come with friends for a big breakfast out, but  be sure to book ahead.

Superette
The guys from the Biscuit Mill have just moved their restaurant Superette to the hippest new location: The Woodstock Exchange.  Ride your bicycle over, check out the new local designer shops, and end a late morning with a delicious feast for breakfast.

Knead ( Kloof St & Wembley Square)
Ever pumping, Knead in Wembley Square has got breakfast down.  Fresh bread baked daily is their true art form, but any open sandwich, breakfast item, or a classic jam and toast is sure to please. Plus, it is uber-kid-friendly. Kids get their own little table complete with play dough and new friends. Also check out Knead on Kloof, a bit busier but just as delicious.

Tortilla Modern Mexican
Rock out before work with a protein packed breakfast burrito and Deluxe coffee at ridiculous prices before 11.

Markets:
We suggest the following markets if you are looking for something alternative to your usual sit and dine.  These markets are full of breakfast buys from early in the morning till about noon.  Great little tastes of this and that can fill you up with your morning cup of coffee.

The Neighbourgoods Market (Old Biscuit Mill)
City Bowl Market
Earthfair Market
Hout Bay Market
