Jonkershuis Constantia is nestled inside the Historic Core of the Groot Constantia Wine Estate, with panoramic views of the peninsula and the majestic Constantia Valley. Our Cape Malay influenced bistro lies next to the Historic Manor house and is surrounded by ancient oak trees and the legendary Groot Constantia Vineyards.

"Our goal is to utilize this beautiful venue to its full capacity", says co – owner, Tammy Botbyl. Come and dine al fresco overlooking False Bay, on the original gravel road leading to the manor house or in the courtyard under the vines. Inside, dining is elegant and informal, with a double sided fireplace that adds warmth and grandeur. Our function room next to the main restaurant has a fireplace at each end & wooden ceilings leading out to the old wagon courtyard. The rich cultural history of Jonkershuis lends a magical and old world charm to all functions it hosts and many a newly-wed have toasted to their future in this historical setting.

Since opening in late December 2005, Jonkershuis Constantia has been delighting local and foreign guests alike with its intimate atmosphere, efficient service and authentic flavours.

I am with Estelle and Chris on this one. We have been to Jonkershuis many times and tend to have the same experience every time - a truly gorgeous setting and utterly delicious food with a wonderful menu selection to choose from. But the service is woefully slow and we too have encountered the "disappearing waitress/waiter" phenomenon often. If they could do something to jack up their service they would see us a lot more often.

@Chris, I have to say I'm in agreement with trevor. We go to Jonkershuis every Sunday - and although the servers are mostly wonderful, and they always come up to us with a bowl of water for the dog etc, we've often waited for periods of time, and had experiences with waitresses disappearing - and I've had to get up every single time I've been there, I've had to get up to ask for bill. Things could do with some speeding up! That being said, the food we've had there has always been great!

Hi Chris-I apreciate your response but unfortunately all i said is true-our wsitress ,who was very sweet, simply disappeared. One of your managers eventually took our coffee order and we asked for the bill at the same time-which came. She asked if we needed the machine to which we replied yes and then never saw her again!!Eventually my wife had to take the bill inside and find someone who we could pay-this is just not really acceptable when we trying to pay a R1000 bill!My prwan curry was very disappointing in flavour and in the number of prawns-we counted them!thankful for the snoek samoosas tho(even though we were told they were R40 and got charged R44(another small "mistake" but just added to the negative feeling we left with.

Hi Trevor Myself and my partners have owned & operated Jonkershuis for 8 years & have been surviving & prospering in a very trying economy. Jonkershuis has grown from strength to strength over the last 8 years. This is why I am so disappointed with your negative comments. Jonkershuis seat's 240 people & the only way it is possible to offer efficient service is with teamwork, all the serving staff have sections (your waitress would have had your table & then the 2 tables right next to yours, thus my confusion that you never saw her again?) & then they all help each other-take orders, carry food, process bills etc etc. It is the only way such a busy, large establishment can operate-teamwork is key.The system seems to have let you down and for that, please accept my sincerest apologies. With re: the prawn curry- the dish should have had 10 small prawns in a rich Malay curry sauce, corriander, rice, puri, sambals & a king prawn as garnish. I wish you had brought your disappointment to our attention on the day & if it was not up to requirements, we would have certainly rectified the dish. If the dish was different to the above description, I would like to offer you a refund to the value of that dish. Most of all, I'm shocked you sat for 25 MINUTES, without getting someone's attention to process your bill. On the day, I had 4 managers, myself & my partner working in dedicated areas, we should have noticed your discomfort and processed your bill. Once again, please accept my apologies for your disappointing lunch, only with such feedback can we improve our offering. Warm regards Chris

Fathers day lunch-not again!lovely waitress who simply disappeared after dropping our mains on the table-literally never saw her again.Had to ask someone else for coffee and tehn had to go inside to pay the bill as nobody seemed interested in taking our payment after sitting 25 minutes.Also,R140 for a very poor prawn curry that had 1 prawn and 3 shrimps!as I say, never again, pity cos its a lovely venue but lousy food and poor service.

The food was great and the prices were very reasonable. I liked the laid back atmosphere.
