Established on Kloof Street almost three decades ago, Cafè Paradiso is a home from home which celebrates long-held traditions and family values; where enticing aromas emanate from the bakery long before dawn and the pasta machine is hard at work all day.

With its beautiful garden setting and gentle décor, this landmark restaurant is a haven from a bustling city where we take time out to enjoy time with friends and family and tuck into wholesome fare made only from the freshest ingredients.

Embracing the simplicity of food in a relaxed farm stall setting, everything possible is made on site; from the hand churned butter and creamy mayonnaise to the daily baked breads, delicious preserves and fresh pasta.

In this gentle space, children and pets are not only welcome, they are specially invited. A place called Paradise in a city we love to call home.

Lunch at Cafe Paradiso on a Saturday - a sure fire recipe for lots of noise and overexcited children. However we were prepared for this so can’t complain, and the staff seem to sail through it all effortlessly. Despite being warned about a delay, our order arrived fairly quickly. The menu seems to have been changed since last we were there and our favourites have disappeared. However, the two open sandwiches which we chose really hit the spot. The pulled pork with sweet mustard dressing topped with red cabbage, apple and cranberry slaw looked intimidating on arrival at the table, but disappeared quickly (R65), while the camembert with rocket, prosciutto and onion jam (R60) was delicious. The open sandwiches are now served on plates, not those awful boards, thank goodness! Good flat white coffees rounded off an pleasant experience.

Enjoyed a long family lunch @ Cafe Paradiso on Saturday. While the adults obliterated the veg & meat antipasti, kids went off & baked in the kitchen, devouring pizza and gingerbread cookies they proudly made. Everything was freshly made with quality ingredients, I think they must have their own farm (so much GREEN). Service was friendly & efficient, they even popped a candle in my birthday brownie. Next time its brunch in the garden!
