A real Valentine’s meal

Right, so it’s the big V day today and the shops have been
carpet-bombed in all sickly shades of pienk.

Shameful!

What a waste of the lovely new Mandela money we have now.

I say, turn left and head to your nearest market or
favourite artisan and make today special in the delicious department.

Surprise your other half with a stay-at-home picnic. Get the
candles out and pick some herbs and flowers from your garden and plop them in a
glass jar.

The meal

How about some stunning bread from your favourite baker?
Start your delightful foodie-filled evening by warming it a little and serve
with some gorgeous cheeses, cured meats and lovely olives and pickles.

Then for the main affair. I love
to serve picky stuff that’s easy to make, it’s so much more fun and allows you
to enjoy more flavours in one meal.

Cooking together makes things merry and of course the eating
and all the chat. Don’t forget to grab a bottle of our top 10 raunchy wines to help things along.

Try this amazing oyster tempura
recipe, it’s like, so hot right now.
Then a sharey bowl of this Cajun spiced calamari salad
which is super quick to make and uber tasty.

For the meaty part of your meal,
try this sassy Asian steak salad with a punchy dressing
and I’d serve it all with a plate of simple asparagus in lemony browned butter.

Ready for the best part? Oh yes,
it’s chocolate time.

Try this ridiculously easy cranberry chocolate recipe,
all you do it melt the chocolate and add the cranberries!
If you feel a little more energetic, try one of our top 10 chocolate recipes,
you’re sure to find one that suits you to a V-day tee.

So trudge forth dear foodies,
through the fake roses and teddy bears, there’s a taste bud popping rainbow at
the end of it.

In candlelit dinners,
