6 most loved SA baking recipes

There are certain baking recipes that I think every cook should have on standby in the kitchen.

They come in so handy when I want to take a lemon meringue or milk tart to a birthday tea or a batch of brownies for the school cake sale.

What to do with sad looking ripe bananas? Make banana bread of course!

And sometimes it’s just needed to fill the cookie jars at home with homemade fudge and crunchies, yes?

There is something so rewarding about “making your own” and with these icy days ahead of us, I can’t think of anything better than getting busy in my kitchen and making these good old favourites for loved ones.

Mmm… I can just smell the fudge bubbling away and the banana bread baking in the oven, the very thought of it makes my heart happy.

Banana bread – There is nothing like hot freshly baked banana bread with lots of butter.

Old fashioned milk tart – homemade crust and all.

Lemon meringue – just the way my Gran did it.

Chocolate brownies – everyone needs a good brownie recipe in their life.

Homemade fudge – SO EASY! With a step by step recipe with lick me pics 😉

Crunchies – oaty, coconuty deliciousness – a great lunch box treat.
