Your weekend feast – Easter edition: Pickled fish tacos, chilli chocolate lamb, hot cross bun ice cream and more

In Cape Town, the smell of pickled fish and onions lingers in the air and a quick walk outside will instantly remind you of what period we’re in.

Whether you’re celebrating or not this weekend is sure to be filled with family brunches, fish, hot cross buns, lamb, chocolate and feasts galore!

Nosedive into our special Easter edition weekend feast –

We hope that sometime over this long weekend you’ll have the opportunity to have a relaxing breakfast (or better yet, brunch). This potato rösti with smoked salmon and boiled egg will fit right it.

No brunch is complete without croissants and speaking of croissants, have you ever tried to make your own? Give it a try with these mini chocolate and almond croissants. They make a mean tea time treat as well.

If you love pickled fish but can’t stand the thought of eating the same thing over and over this weekend, jazz things up and add these Cape Malay pickled fish “tacos” to your menu.

Just like pickled fish, no Easter weekend is complete without lamb. Our Food24 NextGen contestant, Thero Ramatebele of CTIA Chefs Academy developed this marvelous chilli chocolate lamb chops recipe.

If you’re planning on roasting a leg of lamb these roast sweet potatoes with orange & honey syrup will make an epic side.

We are head over heels in love with these chocolate marshmallow Easter egg fridge bars and we’re sure that once you taste it, you’ll be too.

We could not leave this one off the list! If you’re hot cross bun-crazy and you want all the flavours of a spicy, fruity bun in your ice cream, this one’s for you. If you’re not in the mood for something icy cold, make our baked Nutella hotcross bun pudding instead.
