What’s on your Mayan menu?

Hi everyone,

Something big is going to
happen… so say the ancient Mayans.

Some believers say it is the beginning of a new spiritual
era. Others go as far as to quack that Earth will be sucked into a black hole,
or my fave, collide with a planet called Nibiru. Hey, we might even be able to
talk to aliens ‘eh?

I’m sure the Mayans didn’t mean for all this craziness and in
my opinion, the beginning of a new era will suit me just fine. *holds thumbs for one where all my NY’s resolutions come true*

But it brings us to the poignant question… ‘What would be
your final meal before the end?’ Don’t tell me you haven’t ever thought about
it?

My Mayan menu

I shall be sitting by the ocean with my family and many ice-cold bottles of Dom Perignon and a cold crystal glass at my lips.

To begin
with, fresher than fresh (not too big) oysters with zesty toppings. Then I’ll move onto large wooden platters of crusty bread and Gorgonzola, ripe brie’s and French mountain cheeses with sticky sweet figs. Salty cured hams and pancettas will be draped over everything.

To end off with, a lemon tart that is so lemony it makes my lips curl, with a thin, crunchy sugared topping and buttery pastry. *faints with heavenly happiness*

What’s your Mayan menu?

So now starts the hunt for the best menu! We’re giving away R250 Kalahari vouchers to the top 3 menus that come our way.

Send your menu’s to us at editor@food24.com and we’ll publish the winning 3!

We’re got 3 categories:

1. Foodie menu – for all those superb ingredients and recipes for the foodie in you.
2. Mom’s menu – all those down-to-earth comfort foods that you just can’t live without.
3. Wacky menu – the crazy and wonderful favourite foods that are just so delicious to you.

And don’t forget to add in your favourite tipple. Our wine Ed. Cathy Marston says:

‘I think I’d go for slooooow-cooked lamb (so I’d have to get to start it
nice and early in case the world ended before it’s done) – lots of delicious,
fragrant jus and rosemary roast potatoes. And to drink? I have some
Boekenhoutskloof Cabernet Sauvignon which I’ve been squirreling away for
several years – it really would be a shame not to drink it when I’ve waited so
long!’

Try to keep to a 3 course kind of structure, but hey, if you just want a pile of ice cream, it’s your last meal.

I look forward to hearing all about your delicious last-blast ideas.

Aliens and bubbles,
