St Patricks Day!

Today is officially a green day and I don’t mean hug a tree
(but that’s fun too).

It’s St. Paddy’s day all around the world and it’s time for
some fun in the name of the Irish.

I spent a few years on the Emerald Isle in my misspent youth
and it was bags of fun. Colder than ice cream but always fun. The Irish are a
hoot and no matter how dank and grey it was outside, there was always a cosy
fire and a pint of the ‘black stuff’ ready for the taking.

If it wasn’t for the 4-winters-in-a-day weather, I would
probably have stayed longer. I had to get back to SA for some sun and salad but
I have some wonderful foodie memories, so I do.

Rib-sticking meals like beef and Guinness pie and bangers
and onions with mash
were Sunday favourites.

We ate thick salty slices of corned beef on soul-warming
colcannon with parsley sauce and feasted on dark saucy casseroles and great
stodgy pies.

It was comfort food heaven. Cor, I feel like a pie right now.

So as we wind down on summer, what I suggest to you all is,
dye your pool green and have a party, go big, go Guinness and have a jolly
great time. Let’s eat large with all the trimmings and extra for dessert.

Try our St. Paddy’s day menu for a giggle or fire up the
coals for a great big South African braai fest.

Whatever swizzles your stick, let’s get cracking.

Love and leprechauns,
