Spring(bok) day!

Oh my garlic, the Rugby World Cup is nearly upon us.

It’s all too exciting but one thing has struck me, all the
games are in the morning! The New Zealand/South Africa time change makes for some
truly early bird starts with the main games playing at around 10am. (Link to schedule)

Hmmm, it’s not the most festive of viewing times is it, I mean, can
I have a lot of beer that early? I’d feel like an overdone chop all dressed up with
bok facepaint and drinking, well, tea.

Oh toss that, I shall just throw all social expectations to
the wind, have a large pint and a huge fry-up and methinks I won’t be the only one.

Huge brunch time folks!

I am thinking huge brunches that last well into the day
where the whole family can join in. I’m going to make some Tongan Otai cocktails to sip on whilst munching on some good ol’ SA
boerie rolls for our first game next Sunday. Then we’ll get stuck into some
real braaiing after that.

It’ll be fun to try and match the game with that countries
food – how ‘bout it? What are you thinking of doing? Will you stay at home, or
go out?

If you’re staying in you could go Maori and dig a hungi (a New
Zealand ground oven) or throw on your beret and have some croissants
French-style. How about some oozey mozzarella and anchovy toasties for a fun Italian morning?

Scoop some caviar onto your blinis with some funky Rolo vodka for the Russians or why not just devour some burgers
for breakfast in the name of the USA?

But this is unusual breakfasting, so we need your help here, home chefs.

Do you have any
awesome or exotic recipes to share for the World Cup? If you’d like us to share
and show them off, send them in to me.

With many a braai in between, there’s much foodie fun to be
had and with Spring just arrived this very day, what could be better than good
food with friends in our beautiful SA? Oh, and we might just watch some
eye-popping, drop-kicking, insane rugby whilst we’re at it!

Or would you rather go out?

If you decide to save your lounge and go out for the games,
where will you go? Who is going crazy and turning their restaurant or pub
into a place for some serious rugger worship? Restaurants, let us know!

If your local is having a special or doing some screenings,
tell us about it and we’ll shout it out far and wide. Let’s go big, let’s go
huge, let’s go rugby!
