Our top restaurant specials

“OMG” says Caro a half a meter to my left. I swivel around half expecting another picture of a butt-crack cupcake … instead Caro is pointing at her screen at The Foodbarn’s latest winter offering.

Franck Dangereux is one of this country’s top chefs and his extremely popular and lovely restaurant in Noordhoek is offering… 3 courses paired with 2 Steenberg wines for R165, 4 courses paired with 3 Steenberg wines for R185 and 5 courses paired with 4 Steenberg wines for R215. Yes you read that correctly.

And sorry… did somebody say Steenberg wines? Yes – they produce some of the finest wines from the Constantia Valley. So, I don’t know what you are waiting for… read Caro’s review and book a table online now! (Did you notice our nifty new booking system?)

We realise you’ve seen this newsletter before… but if we are being blown away here at the office then we really feel that we should share them with you too. Again.

I can hear Meagan screeching in the background as I type this…”Caro! You have to take your family to Myoga! SEVEN courses for R195. Kids eat for free. Free!”

Some top specials for this month

Restaurants are really are coming to the party this year, and here are a couple of specials that made us go “oooooh”.

Something cool to do with the kids on their holidays… Café Paradiso on Kloof Street gives the folks a 2 HOUR happy hour while the kids read stories and bake gingerbread men. Ahhhhhhh.

Monday “Burger ‘n Beer” nights when you can get a beer with your burger for only 55 bucks. At Billy the B.U.M’s in Durban. No man, that’s insane!

And Boekenhoutskloof Chocolate Block (the wine everyone talks about) will be an affordable R200 at French Toast  in Cape Town– where they are halving the price of all wines under R400 on a Monday night. And there really are some top class wines to drink here.

d’Ouwe Werf in Stellenbosch have erected a Bedouin Tent for their 2 courses for R100 offer – including a Cape Malay bobotie and malva pudding (that gets us every time).

The newly renovated Planet Restaurant at The Mount Nelson Hotel…  now you can treat your other half to 6 courses for R300 at The Nellie.

And if it’s an all you can eat Sunday hot pot you’re after – look no further than Ferrymans!

The chef at The Bull Run in Sandton is going crazy with a kg of pork ribs for R99 and a sirloin and prawn combo for R85.

Or a combo platter of 6 prawns, 1 hake fillet, 3 mussels, calamari, calamari heads & chips, rice and sauces for R79 at Q4 Prawns in Hillcrest. Childish really.

I’m running out of space here folks – so go and check out our specials page. And if you’ve got some brilliant specials going on at your local then please share them with us, and we’ll put them up on our special page.

Enjoy!
