DStv’s HONEY launched an all-new pan-African cooking show, House of Chefs, earlier this month. If you’ve missed it, it’s the very first cooking show of its kind with strong reality show elements, sensational food, a bit of glam and lots of nail-biting drama.

Watch the preview for House of Chefs here.

The show features South African celebrity chef and restaurant owner Siba Mtongana as the main judge, alongside Ugandan TV personality Sheilah Gashumba as the host and eight brilliant young chefs from seven countries across the African continent. The talented trainee chefs compete for a sought-after, prestigious internship at Chef Siba’s eponymous Cape Town restaurant SIBA and a cash prize of R70k.

“House of Chefs is fresh and new,” says Zinzi Velelo, HONEY’s Head of Content. “Not only must you cook well to stay in the competition, but you also have to fight to stay in the game, and if you are voted out, you need to scramble to find a way back in.”

All the exciting twists, unexpected turns and gripping-edge reality TV drama keep things fascinating and elevates this televised cooking competition to all-new exhilarating heights, all while offering eight hopeful chefs a real life-changing, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

“This is a career-changing opportunity for young chefs,” says Chef Siba. “During their internship at my restaurant, Siba, located in a prime spot in Cape Town, the winner will work closely with me as we explore and uplift African food to new heights in the fine-dining space. And let’s not forget that Cape Town is one of Africa’s culinary hubs. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for any budding chef.”

Be sure to catch House of Chefs every Friday at 9pm on DStv 173 where you get to meet the contestants and witness them (and the drama) as they battle it out for the grand prize.
