Chocolate and Champagne

Isn’t it fun how life changes? January celebrated a huge health kick, lots of water drinking and exercise – I’m exhausted.

Then came February and we jumped into a bubbling cauldron of chocolate. My sweet tooth is doing Mexican waves and the health kick has been flung out of the window for a wee while – I shall call it research.

What I like about the dreaded Valentine’s month is that it gives us all a little excuse to indulge a bit. Whether it’s a slap-up steak and creamy mushroom sauce you’re after or a delightfully gooey chocolate fondant, we’ve got it all.

How about a bit of fun before you begin the festivities this weekend and try your hand at ‘sabrage’? It’s basically chopping the top off a bottle of bubbly and not be taken lightly, please don’t try if you’ve already had a few. Watch this fabulous video of how to do it and a brilliant discussion on what SA has to offer in the bubbles department. Thanks to our fantastic wine guru Cathy Marston – whatever would we do without her?

Then I think a solld move onto a gorgeous dinner is in order. We’ve got some stunning videos from top chef Franck Dangereux of The Foodbarn in Noordhoek – all about preparing a sirloin steak, cooking it the perfect way and a gorgeous sauce to serve it with. All quick, easy and with that extra ‘wow’ factor.

Our amazing food bloggers have also been busy with some heart racing stuff – take a turn past our beautiful blogs for some screen-licking recipes.

The grand finale wonderful food people should be a chocolate feast. Behold the chocolate section, dedicated to the food of love. It heals all and if you don’t have someone to share this Friday with, no matter, just make something with chocolate and float away on a puff of cocao dreams.

You’re totally worth it.
