BLUES SERVES UP MORE GREAT FOOD AND FINE WINE




Blues Restaurants’ renowned Food and Wine Pairing
evenings are back due to popular demand. This culinary experience offers guests a chance to tantalise both their palates and their noses as Blues combines food and wine to tease all the senses.


For R195 per person you can indulge in a four-course meal, of which the first three are paired with specially selected wines to complement each distinctive taste.


Blues will be hosting these exclusive events every second Wednesday, from 21 May until 27 August 2008, and have made sure that only the finest quality wines will be presented. To add to the experience, each Food & Wine Paring evening will be hosted by the winemaker himself who will take guests through the spectacular tastes and aromas from an expert’s point of view.

EIKENDAL TURNS UP THE HEAT WITH CHEESE FONDUE FEAST




Dip into a melting pot of culinary bliss, great wines and warm Winelands hospitality when Harald’s – the signature restaurant of Eikendal Vineyards – sizzles with its popular Swiss Cheese Fondue Feast between May and August.


From 23 May to 22 June and 16 July till the end of August, your Friday and Saturday evenings can now be booked for a taste of retro-nostalgia when chef Harald Siedler treats you to Eikendal’s spin on the all-time favourite cheese fondue.

Gruyere and Emmenthal meet superb Eikendal wines in a three course dinner including a hearty soup, a dreamy Cheese Fondue served with vegetables and bread and rounded off with dessert. The evening includes a traditional glass of Glühwein on arrival. For the meat lover there will be a selection of Harald’s hearty meat options from the restaurant’s all new Winter Menu as an alternative to the fondue.


The Swiss Cheese Fondue Feast costs R125 per person and booking is essential.


Harald’s restaurant is located at Eikendal Cellar situated on the R44, between Stellenbosch and Somerset West.


VERGELEGEN EXTENDS POPULAR WINTER PROGRAMME




Vergelegen is rolling out a smorgasbord of events this winter from dinners to barrel tastings to food demonstrations.


The programme starts on 25 June with the first of three barrel tastings hosted by winemaker André van Rensburg. The tasting starts at 18h00 and includes dinner. The cost is R95 a person and booking is essential. The two other tastings will take place on 30 July and 20 August. For bookings please call the Wine Tasting Centre on 021 847 2123.


The Lady Phillips Restaurant is hosting dinner and wine evenings presented by newly appointed chef, Henrico Grobbelaar and André van Rensburg. The evenings, on 25 July, 29 August and 3 October, include a four-course meal and wine and start at 19:30. The cost is R270 a head.


Henrico is also offering morning cooking demonstrations on 6 August and 3 September. The cost is R65 per person and includes tea and scones.

WARM UP THIS WINTER WITH WANG THAI’S NEW THAI SPICED FLAVOURS



South Africa’s leading Thai restaurant group, Wang Thai, will be offering Capetonians a variety of winter warmer dishes certain to spice up our chilly Cape Town weather in royal Thai cuisine style.

This winter will see a selection of starters and main courses adorning an award-winning menu with a combination of authentic and modern Thai cuisine dishes. The Winter Warmer dishes will include an option of two delicious soups, Tom Yum Soup and Suki Soup with a selection of no less than six main course options that range in flavour, texture and delicate culinary design.

Tantalising starters of Tom Yum Prawn Soup or Suki Soup are thick and hearty and made using only the freshest seafood and deliciously aromatic flavours. They are both individually priced at R36.


The mixed selection of six main course dishes has been crafted to suit all tastebuds using a superb selection of fresh Thai dishes, such as Duck with Ginger and Coconut Sauce or Steamed Seafood Curry and last but not least the Stir-fried Beef with Green Curry Paste. The main courses are generously portioned, elegantly presented and priced from R56 to R89 per portion.


For those with a sweet tooth there are the wonderfully delicate Chocolate Springrolls, Fried Banana served with ice-cream, Sticky Rice with Thai Custard or the much loved traditional Malva Pudding.


The Winter Warmer menu will be available across all six Wang Thai stores from 2nd June until the 31st July.

BE A WARMER PERSON WITH KAUAI’S NUTRITIOUS WINTER MENU
