The rice dishes Survivor SA contestants wish they were eating

For 39 days, 21 strangers are stranded in a remote tropical paradise in Samoa! Divided into three separate tribes, the contestants must provide food, fire and shelter for themselves. The goal? To outwit, outplay and outlast each other, all to win R1 million. Food is constantly on the minds of the contestants, with reward challenges hotly contested, but for the most part, they must make do with the basics, rice, coconut and not a lot else.

So while you’re sitting on the edge of your seat watching the shenanigans in the next episode of Survivor, why not join the contestants and indulge in a little rice of your own… the good thing is, it doesn’t have to be boring!

Rice has been known to be a quick source of energy, and improves your mental health! A team of researchers from the Hokkaido University Graduate School of Medicine and Tenshi College conducted research and found that improvements in sleep quality and the general quality of life are linked with the consumption of rice. So the more rice you eat, the better your sleep patterns will be, thus improving your mental health.

Also According to Medicinal News Today, there are a number of plant components found in rice, which have very strong links to nutritional and health benefits.

Yes you can have dinner and pudding at the same time, just jokes! But this rice pudding with caramel will be the ultimate treat!

Looking for something exotic to do with your rice? Then this Mediterranean rice soup is right up your alley! We all know a bowl of soup does wonders in Winter. Find more soup recipes to pin!

We love a good wrap, they’re easy to eat and are always delicious! These rice paper Thai wraps are the sweet combination of cashew nuts and creamy avocado, and if you’re a fan of food that’s quick and easy to make then these are definitely for you!

Chicken and rice are always a good idea for dinner, but this dish puts a spin on the usual pairing. Try this mielie rice stuffed chicken and serve it with some delicious roasted vegetables.

Now these might look like plain deep-fried balls, but these crispy basmati rice balls with tomato and herb sauce are way more than that. Nestled in the middle of these rice balls are melted cubes of melting Mozzarella, need we say more?
