Silver medals for SA chefs

Henrico Grobbelaar and his team have proudly brought
home three silver medals for South Africa from the Culinary World Cup at the
11th ‘Salon International de la Gastronomie’ (International Gastronomy Show) in
Luxembourg. Grobbelaar is The Twelve Apostles Hotel (Red Carnation Hotel Collection) Executive Chef and
team captain for the Culinary Team SA,

One of the silvers was achieved in the cold table presentation and one for the hot
kitchen category, along with another silver medal in the individual category
for the pastry section by the 12 Apostles Pastry Chef, Peter Gyorgyicsek.

Tough competition
Competition was incredibly high with 25 National Teams, 10 National Military
Teams, 10 National Junior Teams, 10 Collective Catering Teams as well as
individual chefs and confectioners that competed in this outstanding culinary
event.

Comments Grobbelaar: “I am extremely thankful to the owners and management
of the Red Carnation Hotel Collection for affording us this opportunity to take
part and bring home these silver medals to South Africa. Only with great team
work and continual support has this been possible and we hope to show our
appreciation by taking the culinary experience at The Twelve Apostles Hotel and
Spa to even greater heights.”

The 5 star hotel in
Cape Town, The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa, was the only property in South
Africa, to have two of its Chefs compete on the Olympic Team. As a result of
the intense training undertaken to get to this level this bodes well for the
Hotel as the Chefs are availed to the latest culinary, nutritional trends on
the international cuisine circuit. 2011 will see all these latest techniques
and trends incorporated into all the signature menus at The Twelve Apostles.

Congratulations from Food24 to Henrico and his talented team!
