The Competition Commission of South Africa has announced that an ongoing case involving Cafféluxe has been finalised. The Tribunal has penalised Secret River Trading, which trades as Cafféluxe, a cool R750 000 for attempting to price-fix their coffee capsules.

Cafféluxe is best known for its alternative coffee pod capsules that bring consumers more affordable pods for everyday drinking. The investigation was launched in 2015 after Global Coffee (supplied by Cafféluxe), offered a discount to Checkers and Secret River Trading threatened not to supply Global Coffee unless they matched the Cafféluxe prices.

The Competition Commission of South Africa is a government mandated organisation that investigates and evaluates South African business practices.

Cafféluxe has not released an official comment to date.
