It’s Phuza December

It’s Phuza December, didn’t you know?

We’ve embraced it here at Food24 (more than usual) and we’re having a ball.

Living –quite irritatingly to those who don’t – in the beautiful Cape, we have many awesome and kick-ass drinking holes to frequent and now that the end of the year is rushing to its mad pinnacle, we’ve decided to let it wash over us in great swathes of craft beer and delicious wine.

Hey, and let us not forget the cocktails. Foxy Lili – the famous redhead from Women24 gave us great inspiration when putting together the Top 10 festive cocktails and I must say, what be a festive season without one?

Think happy sunny days with sun creamed noses and bright t-shirts. Pop to the shops and fill up the trolley with braai meat, fresh crispy salads, stinky cheese, warm fresh bread and massive watermelons. Mix up a couple of Mojitos and your long summer lunch is done. Bliss.

And if you are out and about strutting your stuff then let’s talk prime locations. If you haven’t checked out our Top 40 Summer Restaurants yet and visited one then you really need to get in the spirit of things. What better way to say cheers to 2011 than with a great big colourful concoction in your hand.

And what could be more fun than going on a hunt for the best Margarita in Cape Town, or wherever you may be hanging out for the holidays. We can give you 2 fabulous tips to start your journey in The Mother City.  El Burro does a killer one and not too far down the road San Julian does the bomb of a frozen Margarita.

Or if cocktails are not your thing then The Mussel Bar in Camps Bay is serving up mussels and beer with a view of the beach.

And &Union in town serves a variety of craft beers and they’ve always got some kind of funky food going on.

If wine is your thing then there are loads of beautiful wine farms doing awesome picnics – so grab the family and friends and head on out to relaxing picnic bliss.

Of course you don’t have to have a drink in your hand to enjoy December… but if you do enjoy a libation – then you might as well do it in style.

Please send us your favourite cocktail, wine or beer drinking places to editor@food24.com and we’ll make sure we mention them in future.
