Granadilla Eats is now available on Faithful to Nature – here’s what it means for small-scale food producers

Cape Town-based online food and fresh produce delivery service Granadilla Eats has been acquired by UCOOK and Faithful to Nature. South Africans will be able to order their box of fresh produce goods via the two ecommerce platforms.

Granadilla Eats launched at the start of the pandemic and was born out of the need for a reliable home-delivery service offering fresh produce.

Hannah Duxbury, co-founder of Granadilla Eats, explains that the acquisition will benefit small-scale producers.

“This acquisition is a route-to-market for many small South African food operations that would not necessarily have access to this kind of scale or opportunity.”

What does this mean for consumers?

Locals are now able to order their favourite fresh produce and items, sourced from the same trusted and ethical suppliers and small businesses they’ve come to know through Granadilla Eats, via Faithful to Nature. Faithful to Nature and Granadilla Eats are currently running a promotion, offering R100 off your first order. Orders on UCOOK will be available at a later stage.

Helping small-scale farmers

Numerous small-scale farmers that are partnered with UCOOK, Faithful to Nature and Granadilla Eats will be provided access to a wider network of consumers as a result of the acquisition. The social impact of this aims to support and provide a lifeline to local producers.

Peter Allerstorfer, CEO of UCOOK, highlights the focus on supporting small-scale producers. “This acquisition of Granadilla Eats continues our focus on showcasing the incredible work that farmers and food producers do in our communities. By supporting regenerative farming practices, we can work towards revolutionising our local food system and have a meaningful impact on communities and people’s livelihoods.”
