Get your diary out for these fun food events

It’s been a fun-filled foodie week, that’s for sure and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down. It’s currently National Vegetarian Week, secondly we celebrated World Baking Day on Tuesday with these 8 luscious and decadent cakes (warning: drool alert) and on Saturday it’s World Whisky Day.

If you’re not quite clued up on whisky but you’d like to be, read this article – whisky for beginners. It’ll boost your knowledge and give you whisky-ordering confidence, guaranteed. Then we’ve also gathered 10 ways to celebrate World Whisky Day if you find yourself looking for ideas. I particularly love number 6!

If you’re on the hunt for some foodie events, don’t forget that the Cape Town leg of The Good Food & Wine Show gets underway next Friday and then there’s the popular Shiraz and Charcuterie Festival taking place at a new location this year – Anthonij Rupert Wyne. But let’s not jump the gun because taking place this weekend is The High Tea Festival at Kirstenbosch which should be a treat and in Joburg, the Full Moon Night Market at the super cool Moboneng Precinct. Don’t miss it.

Needing a restaurant recommendation for the weekend? We love this list of 5 exciting Winelands restaurants you have to try (word of warning – make a booking to avoid disappointment!).  And if you fancy a weekend of watching series in your PJs on the couch – then these 6 warming Winter soups might be calling your name. Comfort food all the way!

Finally, I’d like to introduce you to our new writer and well-known celeb chef, Zola Nene who will be sharing her inspiring food stories and helpful kitchen tricks and tips with us every month. I’m excited!

But for now, let’s practice our whisky cocktail-making skills!
