If you have fond memories of The Golden Girls TV show (or even it’s catchy theme song), you’re in for a treat! News broke last week that a Golden Girls cookbook is in the works. Although it won’t be available until 2020, reports people.com.
‘The Golden Girls’ is an American sitcom that centres around 4 elderly ladies – Dorothy, Blanche, Rose (played by the inimitable Betty White) and Sophia, who live together in an apartment in Florida. It’s heart-warming and often hysterically funny – focusing on themes like friendship, family, love and general life as an ageing woman. And through their ups and downs, one thing remains constant… their love for cheesecake and its comforting, therapeutic qualities.
The sitcom ran from the mid-80s to 1992 and garnered many fans along the way. Who can forget Sophia’s sharp, witty one-liners? Or Blanche’s dramatic love quests? The show was so popular that a New York-based Golden Girls-themed restaurant was opened (but has since closed) and an abundance of merchandise has been produced over the years.
According to Today.com, the cookbook will be published by Kingwell, an imprint of Disney Publishing (and it will most certainly contain the special cheesecake recipe!).
