Hi everyone,
Did you know that the Mother city, Cape Town has been chosen as the World Design Capital for this very year of 2014?
It’s got me completely at the edge of my seat and jumping to get involved. Food has gone ‘pop’ and it is so inspiring to see new restaurants, bars, food trucks and all sorts of inspired foodie ideas coming to the fore.
Think about it, a couple of years ago, there wasn’t such a thing as the Constantia Craft Beer Project, or restaurants just for burgers, or a SA coffee shop that is so cool it’s voted best in the world.
And how about artisan meat or artisan cocktails? Or a laundry that does awesome dim sum and wine while you wait? There’s indie beer breweries doubling as cool hang-outs with pulled pork sandwiches to die for, crazy beautiful markets and all American-style ribs and grill joints.
Then in comes something new and wonderful and we shouldn’t be surprised in the slightest, as it comes from the team at Spier. The Spier Secret Courtyard is a magical haven of food, wine and fun in the centre of Cape Town.
It’s just for 3 months (Feb-April) and there are dinners in the dark, quirky movie nights, music, games nights and my favourite, secret dinners – I had a ball doing one for the festival last year and will be doing a few more in this stunning location.
