We’re all aware how distressing the water situation is in the Western Cape and the City of Cape Town has released multiple warnings that there aren’t many days of water left!

A local ad agency, 140BBDO and a Cape Town radio station, Smile 90.4FM have created a campaign, H2Zero that is challenging some of the top chefs in the Mother City to cook without water. At all.

Every Wednesday for the month of September, two chefs will be issued with the challenge of creating a meal with no boiling, steaming, simmering, poaching, parboiling or blanching, or any process that needs water.

The lineup of chefs include some of the industry’s crème of the crop:

Pete Goffe-Wood (of Masterchef SA fame)

Franck Dangereux from The Food Barn

Liam Tomlin from Chef’s Warehouse

Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss from Greenhouse at Cellars Hohenort

Ash Heeger from Ash Restaurant

Sonja Edridge from The Larder

Nina Timm from My Easy Cooking

Callie Anne Gavazzi from Callie Anne Cooks

What’s more – you can WATCH the chefs prepare the meals live on Facebook! The menus will also be available for download on the SMILE 90.4FM website so that listeners are able to recreate some waterless magic at home.
