Celebrate with food

Food – no matter what it is or where it comes from, forms a significant role in any celebration across all continents of the world, regardless of religion or culture.

The basic fact is that we need to eat and when it’s a special occasion? Well, then it’s an excellent excuse to go big and make it extra delicious.

It feels like this week has been filled to the brim with all kinds of celebrations! Oscar parties, Chinese New Year plus loads of weddings and birthdays. Our brilliant restaurant editor celebrates her birthday today and we’ve heard she’s planned an amazing menu for her party with one of Cape Town’s best food truck vendors

Speaking of birthdays, Food24 was lucky enough to be invited to the 2nd anniversary of the New Church Street Museum on Tuesday where our former editor, Caro de Waal created absolute magic with beautiful, thought-provoking food installations that just blew us away. Watch the video here!

Another celebration takes place tomorrow and one that we are rather excited about. It’s National Milk Tart Day. For real!

You’ll know that we have LOADS of milk tart recipes to keep you busy and even a few that show you how to take your milk tart to the next level. Unsure of what milk tart is? Not to worry – here is a short history to get you acquainted with what could arguably be called our national dessert.

We’d love you to join in the fun tomorrow by snapping a pic of your tart and tagging it #MyMilkTart. If it’s an Instagram, it will appear on our website! Let’s go mental with milk tart and start the weekend off with a bang.

See you on social media tomorrow!

I’m just popping out to stock up on cinnamon, because what is milk tart without it?
