If you have ever worked with fondant you’ll know the painstaking craftsmanship it requires, and if you haven’t worked with the stuff before, you’d have seen intricate cake creations made from fondant, most likely leaving you in absolute awe.

Emma Jayne Morris of Emma Jayne Cake Design, recently recreated a couture wedding gown, by Mark Tumang, in the form of a fondant cake for The Cake International Show in London. This year’s theme was Wedding Gowns through the ages. ABC News reported that while exhibitors had to create a cake based on any designer wedding dress, the talented Morris was the only one tasked with making a life-sized cake.

When taking in the “cake” clad in all its fondant glory it’s clear to see why it served as the center piece at the competition that took place last month. The master piece took a total of 10 days to complete, after which it stood almost 2 meters tall, just over a meter wide and weighed 200kg. A sweet 60kg of fondant was used and 50kg of modeling paste for the delicate flowers.

Morris reportedly told Tumang that the only reason why her dress did not match the exact size specifications of his is due to the size constraints of her workplace at home.

The ingredients for fondant cake included opal crystals, Preciosa crystals, and grey and pale-pink sugar paste. The only catch is that the cake is not edible as the inside is part dummy, Rice Krispies and marshmallow. Morris also revealed that it took six people to carry the end product.
