Budget kitchen makeover: Cost-effective ways to revamp your kitchen

kitchen renovation

If you want a fresh look for the heart of your home, at minimal cost, follow these tips to get the most bang for your buck!

Give your kitchen a lick of paint

Paint remains the quickest – and cheapest – to get maximum impact. But we’re not just talking walls here. Try adding a splash of colour to your kitchen cupboards, window frames or kitchen door handles, or opt for a feature wall. It’s also a great way to incorporate the season’s hottest colours. Upgrade your kitchen accessories

Paint isn’t the only budget-friendly way to incorporate the latest colours. You could also buy new accessories, such as dish towels, cutlery, chopping boards, curtains or plant pots. Or switch up the accessories and appliances you have on display and in your cupboards – for example, place your hand blender on the countertop and pack away your toaster. (But be sure you don’t pack away items you frequently use in hard-to-reach places.)

Incorporate open shelving

While open shelves can be an invite for dust to linger, some strategically placed wooden shelves add a warm, natural element. And make what you place on these shelves also count – display beautiful new dishes, keepsakes or pot plants.

Add a splash of green

Speaking of pot plants, if you haven’t already, add some beautiful pots with herbs or edible flowers to spruce up your space. If you don’t have space for pot plants, you could even hang up a beautiful floral picture instead.
