Clarkes has been mentioned in multiple Food24 guides because, to put it simply, they are one of the absolute best in Cape Town. Another reason why Clarkes is the best, besides the deliciously scrumptious soul food, is the cocktail and beer happy hour between 5pm and 6pm. Cocktails are just R27. Try The Rocking Chair which is made up of bourbon, ginger beer and bitters.

Door 221
A Bree Street favourite with a super relaxed atmosphere, an outdoor section on the street, or at the back, and serving decadent bar snacks from tacos to Mozzarella sticks. Door 221 offers a really good happy hour special on artisanal cocktails between 6pm and 7pm. Get two cocktails for the price of one like the popular Aperol Spritz or Whiskey Sours.
Hudsons, The Burger Joint (all branches)
Hudsons offer serious value for money between 4.30pm and 6.30pm, get half price cocktails, beers and appetizers like triple cheese chilli poppers, chicken strips and falafels.
The Stack
Looking for something a little more lavish? The Stack glams things up a bit with a striking and luxurious green and pink coloured bar area. The cocktails are all unique to The Stack. All cocktails are R40 between 5pm and 7pm. Try the chilli infused Endless Summer with tequila, hibiscus and pineapple juice.

Rick’s Café Americain
Rick’s offers their patrons, not one but four hours of happiness every day of the week. All cocktails are reduced, as are cocktail jugs (prices vary) as well as Jack Black beer. There’s also a 2-for-1 tequila special and a tapas for 2 platter offered over happy hour.
Café Manhattan
Enjoy 2-for-1 cocktails at one of Cape Town’s most treasured and vibrant bars. This place is perfect for Summer evenings with much outdoor seating over-looking Waterkant Street. Happy hour runs from 4pm and 6pm.
The Piano Bar
The Piano Bar really embraces Happy Hour from 4pm to 6pm daily. On Friday’s they also do a late happy hour between 11:30pm and 12:30am. Thirsty Thursdays involve half price cocktails between 7:30pm and 10:30pm. See their Facebook for changing specials and more info.
Da Vinci’s
Head on over to pizza spot, Da Vinci’s on Kloof Street for half price drinks and starters between 4:30pm and 6:30pm.
Durban
Dropkick Murphey’s
Another frequenter of our restaurant guides is Dropkicks, and for good reason. They do half price drinks like cocktails and beers between 5pm and 6pm, as well as 25% off craft beer and draught beer.
Billy The Bums
Perhaps the longest happy hour in Durbs, which actually falls over 3 hours from 4pm to 7pm. The deals are worth a visit and includes R25 cocktails, single shot drinks and select draughts are R20 and a few bottled beers and ciders are only R14. This is definitely the place for those feeling the holiday pinch!
La Bella
La Bella celebrates happy hour from Monday to Sunday from 3pm to 6pm. Head here after work to enjoy half price on selected beers, ciders and wine.
New York Restaurant and Bar
Happy hour runs from 4:30pm to 6:30pm Monday to Friday. SAB bottled products and house wine by the glass, are half price in the first hour and 25% off in the second hour.
Joburg
The Griffin
The Griffin offers one of the best happy hour specials around. All drinks are half price between 5pm and 6pm from Monday to Saturday.
Topo Gigio
Topo Gigio offer half price cocktail jugs between certain times every day of the week. See the time slots here.

This is cocktail bliss, with over 60 cocktail varieties to choose from! Six offers 2-for-1 cocktails every day from midday to 7pm. How’s that?!
Chalkboard
This lovely and hip café and bar is attached to the Bioscope, Maboneng’s independent cinema. Besides the great pizzas, they offer a beer focused happy hour from Monday to Thursday between 6pm and 7pm, a selection of commercial beers are only R15.
