Like most fruit, pears come in a heap of different varieties. Growing up, I used to have a real aversion to them. Nowadays, I enjoy crunchy, crisp pears as a snack but my favourite way to eat the curvy-shaped Autumn fruit, is to have it with something else of a different flavour. That’s the great thing about pears; they lend themselves to being the perfect partner. A few favourite combinations come to mind… pear and dark chocolate, pear and blue cheese, pear and whisky, pear and ginger, pear and vanilla, pear and almond… the list is endless!
