Travelling for foodies has always been about fitting in a gelato in between all the sightseeing – or even making a special trip to visit a famous restaurant. But now, cities around the world are opening up food orientated museums for fans of ice cream, breakfast, chocolate and even Italian cheeses!

The Hall of Breakfast
The folks at this pop up museum believe that breakfast is the most important meal of the day – and they’re here to celebrate eggs, waffles, donuts and cereal. Featuring displays in vibrant colours – the Hall of Breakfast is the ultimate Instagram- able destination!
Instant noodles are loved all over the world, but perhaps not quite as much as in their home nation of Japan. The museums are spread over two different locations – one in Yokohama and the other is in Osaka, with exhibits such as the Cup Noodle Factory, where you can mix and match all the flavours to make your very own cup noodle or the Instant Noodle Tunnel which displays over 800 kinds of rare and collectible noodle packages.
FICO Eataly World, Bologna
In central Italy is a temple to everything related to Italian eating and drinking. Pasta classes, balsamic vinegar tastings, cheese lectures, interactive pizza demonstrations and even a working farm that has 200 kinds of unique and significant farm animals – goats, sheep and dairy cattle. The compound has over 45 places to eat and if it all gets too much for you, you can rent a bicycle to get around.
MOFAD NYC
The Museum of Food and Drink is a food culture museum in New York City that has a particular focus on immigrant influences on the American food scene. Main exhibits include CHOW – the making of the Chinese American restaurant. Daily cooking demonstrations are on offer, and the museum has big plans for the future with consultant chefs and advisors such as David Chang, Dominique Ansel and Christina Tosi. Planned exhibits include highlights such as Beyond Bagels: Jewish Food and Jewish Eating in the United States.
Cadury World, Bournville UK
Willy Wonka factory dreams come true at the home of Cadbury’s chocolate. Explore a 4D chocolate experience (including smells!), the history of Cadbury’s chocolates, how chocolate is made and of course – tasting.
