This is the beginning of our summer cocktail spree, just for you, to kick off your summer of fun.
1. Pink gin fizz – This is my all time favourite party-time pal. The combination of the gin with the piquancy of the grapefruit juice and the smoothness of the tonic makes for a symphony in your mouth.
2. Pimms, Rooibos and Ginger Tea – If you find yourself wilting in the summer sunshine, then this might be your perfect antidote to turning into a puddle on the floor.
3. Zanzibar rum smiler – One of my strongest memories of Zanzibar, from a visit there about 9 years ago, is the exquisite exotic spiced tea that they serve up at stalls in the night market near the main harbour.
We wandered around, footloose and fancy free, sampling the fresh-as-can-be delicious seafood wares, and in between took heavenly sips of their steaming tea.
I’ve adapted it here, just for you, fair friends, to a lip-lekker beach-time version, paired with, you guessed it, a little kick of island-style rum.
