Your holiday eating out guide

Well we are at the school holidays and the long Easter weekend already, and we all know that any holiday equals festive eating and drinking.

Whether you are staying at home or traveling across the country, Food24 has got you covered.

Gauteng

Our intrepid Gauteng-based foodie, Kate Liquorish has been doing the burger rounds in Joburg and she has managed to find no less than 16 of the best burger joints in the City of Gold. Researching that one must have been fun! It’s not all about the burgers either; we all like a healthy balance, so off she went in search of some fabulously healthy eating spots too. Pizzas are next on her radar so if you have a particular favourite pizza haunt in Joburg, drop her a Tweet on @undomestikated or include us on @food24.

Keep an eye on our Joburg Restaurants information page to see the latest news and restaurant round-ups. And if you are loving your craft beer at the moment, then a visit to Capital Craft in Pretoria is a must!

KZN

Down in Durban our favourite foodies, The Taste Detectives, have been doing some awesome round-ups that are incredibly useful and droolworthy. Check out these top kid-friendly restaurants in Durban – that is a long and distinguished list, parents!

How about these top spots to grab a coffee! And you can’t start the day without one of the best breakfasts in Durban. Durban is absolutely rocking at the moment.  The Taste Detectives also have a list of burger and beer specials and even load shedding restaurants: if the lights do go out – thanks to The Power List there is no need to cancel your plans for a night out. If you are in and around Durban, you absolutely have to have to follow these guys on Twitter. They are awesome!

Western Cape

Here in Cape Town, well there is a new restaurant popping up every hour so just check out our Cape Town Restaurants page for new and exciting places to visit. We have a long list of our favourite places to go to. Make sure you consult it before you decide to book.

You can’t really go wrong anywhere you visit in the stunning Cape Winelands – but our wine editor Cathy Marston has made it easy for you and has picked out 3 of her favourite all-day destinations. And if you are looking for relaxed and informal – check out these 6 places for some country dining.

The Garden Route, Plett and Knysna have always had their share of great scenic restaurants but it seems to be taking off hugely at the moment. The wine industry in particular is flying and these estates are well worth a visit if you are looking for something fun to do.

Port Elizabeth

PE is storming the food and restaurant scene. Stanley Street is established as the gourmet zone – but it’s not the only place to go! Check out this list of lovely places filled with deliciousness.

If you hear of anything exciting happening near you then please drop us a mail on editor@food24.com or if you are having an amazing meal in any restaurant then please  Tweet us on @food24 or tag us in an Instagram on @food24_sa and use the #Review4Food24.
