World Cup specials anyone?

If Bafana Bafana win the World Cup it’s free pizza for everyone for life at Bacini’s in Cape Town… (Don’t quote me)…

I love that sign, it makes me smile every time I drive past. But jokes aside – what are our restaurants doing to celebrate the World Cup in South Africa?  And I’m not referring to celebrations when the best team lifts the trophy; I’m talking about whilst the action is actually happening.

I had the pleasure of eating lunch at Africa’s top restaurant, La Colombe,  yesterday and I was delighted to hear from Luke Dale-Roberts that they will be running their incredibly good value for money winter dining menu – which includes 5 courses with wine pairings for R380 a head – throughout the World Cup.  That’s a really cool thing to do for the benefit of the locals and the thousands of tourist that will be trying to get a booking at the 12th best restaurant in the world.

Other restaurants running specials and hosting footie fans include La Boheme in Seapoint and Cassia Restaurant on Nitida Wine Estate are putting up screens in their newly erected football shaped marquee.

So, we’d like to know who else is coming to the party.  Who else is giving away free pizza if Bafana Bafana win a game? Jo’burg, Durban, PE, Polokwane – share the love with us!

Email us the details and we’ll list the special. You can email us on editor@food24.com  and just give us the name of the restaurant and we’ll do the rest.

Our bro site Sport24.co.za  have just launched a fantastic “off the pitch” section, where you can find out all you need to know about what’s happening in SA during the Soccer World Cup. So we’ll be sending them a “World Cup Special” every day from now until that trophy is hoisted by Aaron Mokoena and Bacini’s  runs out of pizza…

Send those details people! It’s going to be one fun month!
