Wine of the Week: Little Big Wines is your new picnic companion

From the creators of Wine Flies and The Forgotten Route wine tours comes a new oenophilia offering from their own label, made and supported by original founder Francois van Binsbergen. Not surprising as the team at Wine Flies lives, breathes and knows wine so well, Little Big Wines offers a selection of wines that are a result of love and passion for the grape – the Little Dry Red, Little Dry White and Little Big Blush.

Now also available via their online store, the range is unique for one further reason in particular: bottles are smaller than the usual 750ml bottles, offering two generous glasses or a single carafe of wine – for those occasions when you don’t want to drink too much, but one glass is just not enough. Perfect on a warm summer’s day spent picnicking on the lawn, or in winter jerseyed up by the fire, the Little Big Wines is an attempt to define a new and more approachable drinking culture.

The 375ml wines are accessible and unpretentious (their labels are fun and creative rather than stuffy and stale). It’s a trio of affordable, quirky wines – now also available in stylish carry packs (again: picnic time!). Currently stocked at 60 bars, restaurants and liquor stores in Cape Town and along the Wild Coast and Garden Route; you’re sure to spot this local favourite at your favourite establishments
